Organic Produce

Today I spent some time trying my hand at shooting still life images of food, using some organic produce from the local farmers market. This is my favorite image from the day, although it’s fairly conventional. I used natural window light and a bit of fill flash with a small softbox. If you’re wondering why the tomatoes look lumpy, it’s because they’re heirloom tomatoes of the Brandywine variety. Mmm, delicious! Photographed on July 26, 2008.

Leaf Detail 2

I liked the way the leaves of this plant looked when they were backlit by the sun. It’s actually some kind of weed that was growing outside my office. The grounds were about to be weeded, so I dug this one up and brought it home for a subject. Photographed on July 18, 2008.
